One of the best things about exhibiting at Printfest this year was the positive reaction I received for my prints inspired by Neolithic monuments. It was even more flattering that some of these prints were purchased by visitors to the show. The mixture of drypoint etching to depict the standing stone and blind emboss, to recreated the cup and ring marks that appear in association with megaliths, seemed to capture the visitor’s imagination .
I’m now developing ideas for a new range of prints inspired by the Neolithic and using a mixture of drypoint and blind embossing. An up coming trip to Cornwall will hopefully provide new subjects for the prints, along with Cumbrian standing stones and those in Northumberland and Scotland.
Watch this space for the prints as they come off the press.
