Get To the Point

Landscape

Richard Foster's desk

Along with a decent range of pencils, the most important piece of equipment I use is an etching needle or “point.” It’s the grey metal tool in the photograph. Virtually every mark I have made to create my prints has been using this point. I love the challenge of taking such a simple tool and using it in as many ways as possible to create a variety of marks and tones in the final print.
